It’s hot, and Ewan Stone is a resident on Itch.io!
It seemed like a good platform to extend my tendrils to. I deeply respect the ethos, the chance to take more control of my product, so I’ll be adding the full portfolio to my page over the next few weeks.
Head over there now for a download of the slightly updated Path of Lyssa. And check back in for the full Lonely Ship Saga, including the brand-new Intimate Ships of the Forge trilogy!
I’m also going to make a key decision to offer Near Traverse, the first Lonely Ship book, as Pay What You Want exclusively on Itch. This is partly a marketing decision – my hope is that anyone picking up Book One and liking it will grab the others from the same page. And that’s good for Itch, a platform I respect, and for me because Itch royalties are higher than others!
(If you’re curious, I’ve set my rate at 85%, meaning 15% of profits go back to Itch.)
Go check it out, and let me know what you think! And then, keep checking back forever!
Or not.
You may have heard that all not-safe-for-work content on Itch is down as of the morning of 24th July (UK time). This is Itch conducting an ‘audit’ of their content to ensure it complies with new requirements set out by payment processors.
At time of writing, I’m still not sure if anything I have written will make it through this new gauntlet. It may be I have to retract my support from Itch forever. Which would be a shame. I’d really thought it would be my Eldorado.
As a new author searching for a like-minded audience, it’s frustrating to see another potential collaboration platform concede to someone politician’s views. I’m getting used to being told I don’t belong on writing sites, but it still stings.
For now, I’m going all in on Smashwords. Shame I missed the chance to get involved with the last sale ‘cos I was setting up on Itch. The new Lonely Ship books will be released on Amazon too, though they won’t let me publish for free so Lyssa, Laymen and the upcoming Time and Time Again won’t be there.
Thanks for keeping up with this. I appreciate the attention. Take care.
